SUCCESS STORIES
Anita from Greenville had huge success
approaching some neighbors recently and even gained
a walking buddy in the process. This is what she
shared with us!
I appreciate you agreeing to go with me to
talk to the owners of the chained dog I have
noticed in a subdivision near mine! However,
yesterday afternoon I went home for a late lunch,
saw the truck in the driveway and worked up the
nerve to knock on the door! Two women answered the
door. I told them exactly what you suggested (that
I drive by their home often and noticed their
beautiful dog chained when before he was allowed to
roam freely in the yard - which is a chain link
fenced yard). They understood what I was saying. I
got the impression the dog barked a lot at the
traffic and people that went by the house and
perhaps the neighbors complained.
I then said "Can I ask a huge favor"? I
explained that my Doctor said I needed to exercise
more and to borrow a neighbor's dog as a good
excuse to walk. They smiled and nodded positively.
The younger kept saying "crazy" and I'm not sure if
she meant me or the dog.
The older woman had
moved into the backyard at this point and unchained
the dog who she introduced to me as "Bobby". She
was very loving to the dog and the dog responded
positively to her. She began throwing a tennis ball
to Bobby who ran happily around the yard but would
stop from time to time at the fence to listen to us
talk about him. I was close enough to see the dog
house was in better shape than it looked from the
road and the dog had fresh water and food. I
offered to put [something] under their front door
mat anytime I walked the dog so they would always
know when I had him.
I went back when I got
home from work yesterday. Bobby did better than I
expected on the leash and I did better than I
expected with the leash. (I am a cat person who has
never owned a dog as an adult!). I suspect that in
time, Bobby and I will be one heck of a power
walking duo!
I slept like a baby
last night and I suspect Bobby did also! Thanks for
giving me the courage to approach the owners!
Thank you Anita, for
making a difference!

The Jack's feral cat clan thanks SFA for a
healthy and nonreproductive life style.

The gray cat second from
the right is the monarch of the clan. Ace, a pure
black female, is missing from the picture.
Just wanted to let you
know we are doing great and thank you for all your
help. Had a terrible nighmare a few days ago and
woke up with the impression that we had 11 new
kittens and that the operations hadn't worked.
Boy, was that some dream
and was glad to wake up and realize that it was a
nightmare and not real.
Thanks again and again,
George and Louise Jacks
